Osha root (Ligusticum porteri), whole, wildcrafted
Osha root (Ligusticum porteri), whole, wildcrafted
Osha is a slow-growing perennial herb native to mountainous areas of the western United States and northern Mexico. The product called “whole osha” consists of its dried roots, often with pieces of the root crown attached. The plant grows in high-elevation meadows and woodland edges.
Characteristics
Cut or powdered Osha root has a deep, earthy, root-like herbal character. Its scent is more robust than floral, making it a grounding base note in a loose blend. Use only a small pinch, put in the incense bowl and place on a tealight candle burner; powdered root can heat unevenly and may produce heavy smoke.
