Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), decorticated
Decorticated whole cardamom consists of the seeds of the cardamom fruit after the outer pod has been removed. The seeds come from a tropical plant in the ginger family and are commonly sold whole so they can be crushed or ground when needed.
Characteristics
Whole pods have a warm, sweet-spicy aroma with a fresh, aromatic lift. Lightly crushing them before put in the incense bowl and place on a tealight candle burner can help release its scent; use only a small amount as the aroma can become intense.
